The South Florida Museum is open Tuesday – Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m. You’ll find the South Florida Museum located at 201 10th Street West, Bradenton, FL 34205. At the museum, you can enjoy special exhibitions, an aquarium, a planetarium, and much more. A true educational experience, the South Florida Museum provides a variety of options for you and your family. Whether your children are currently obsessed with sea life or astronomy, they’ll enjoy all the museum has to offer.
The Museum
At the museum, known as the largest natural and cultural history museum on Florida’s Gulf Coast, you’ll find two floors worth of exhibitions. At the exhibits, you’ll get to see fossil evidence of Florida’s earliest marine and mammal inhabitants, artifacts from pre-contact cultures, archaeological materials from Paleo-Indian cultures, and much more. Currently, guests can enjoy two additional special exhibits: A New Moon Rises and the Rincon Gallery.
The Aquarium
The Parker Manatee Rehabilitation Aquarium offers an exhibit area that guests can view. Housing 36 manatees, the aquarium is a great place to go to learn more about manatees and the rehabilitation program at the aquarium. The aquarium offers above and below water viewing, allowing guests to see different aspects of the manatee habitat.
The Planetarium
The Bishop Planetarium is an astronomy education facility. The digital full-dome planetarium theater offers multimedia theater for live music, digital art performances, lectures, films, and more.
